I write about Human rights and social justice; Restorative and community justice, education, defense spending, equal rights.

Stirling Plantation, my 6th book, is an historical novel that tells the story of a Virginia plantation and the Black slave family and white family living in the Manor House. The story follows the impact of wars, the abolitionist movement and the women's movement in the 19th century; the rise of domestic terrorists, KKK, denying equal citizenship to freed slaves. The 20th century sees the struggle for education and its denial by Southern states, especially Virginia.

My background includes four years of military service as an Army officer, and 25 years as a problem-solver working in major government records & information systems. I worked for AmeriCorps in 2002 mentoring at-risk teens on writing. I received grants to serve as writer-in-residence in a middle school and have been a volunteer and donor for the Longmont community justice Partnership. For the past 12 years I have published over 100 guest opinions on social and political issues.

My wife and I have six children and 11 grandchildren.
